ESL Site Awards 2007

EnglishClub routinely searches the ESL web and recommends special sites that we think are valuable for learners. The sites we choose are updated regularly and offer useful resources, lessons and activities to enhance your learning program in a variety of ways. Here are the winners from 2007.

Learning English: BBC World Service A beautifully designed site for English learners worldwide. Integrates with BBC World Service radio programs, and has exciting interactive ESL quizzes. You can watch and listen to music shows and songs, as well as follow the news with explanations of vocabulary. Other sections include Business English and programmes and links for teachers.
English-Test.net An interactive testing site by Alan Townend with a range of English language tests for elementary, intermediate and advanced levels, as well as a grading test for you to check your level. This fast-loading, nicely-organized site is effective and easy to follow. You can also subscribe to the newsletter.
LingoZone.com Lingo Zone is a good place to learn languages and meet people all over the world. It does not matter where you live and what language you speak. You can talk with people all over the world who know the language you want to learn and are learning the language you know. The site is free but you have to register. You can also use Lingo Zone's My Vocabulary to create your own word lists and manage them online.
Antimoon.com Antimoon.com is a website about learning English, made for people all over the world. Antimoon.com aims to help people learn English effectively, and teaches modern techniques of learning - such as the SuperMemo method - with references to both American and British English. Articles are written in simple, clear language, with difficult words explained on special pages. The website is fast and easy to use.
eslGold.com ESLgold offers hundreds of pages of free English teaching and learning materials for students and teachers. Resources are organized by skill and level for quick and easy access. This imaginative site is easy to navigate, and includes audio files for listening practice.
EnglishBanana.com Games, quizzes, worksheets and links for learners and teachers. English Banana loads fast and is easy to navigate. Check it out and write an instant story!
TEFLGames.com is a useful site with free ESL games and quizzes for students, as well as classroom ideas for teachers. You'll find interactive games, classroom games, online quizzes and hundreds of printable quiz questions in graded sets. You'll also find excerpts from articles and books on using games in language learning plus links to many other ESL game and activity resources online.
