High Five
Teach your baby how to give you a "high five".
Hold your hand near your baby.
Place her hand on yours and say: "high five".
Spread your fingers out wide and count.
Start with your thumb. Count your fingers slowly.
Put one finger down at a time as your count.
Repeat. Help her push your fingers down.
Play the same counting game with toes. Try it on the diaper table. When your baby lifts her toes into the air give them a high five with your hand. Say: "High five. It's time to count your toes!"
Hide and Count
Gather five of one type of toy or household item (rings, balls, ducks, spoons).
Hide the items in easy places.
Count as you find them.
Say: "Help Mommy find the balls."
As you find a ball, place it in a basket or box.
Count each time you place a toy in the box.
Count 1-5 when all of the items are together.
Food Count
Give your baby five small pieces of cheese or toast or fruit.
Count the food together.
Count as the baby eats the food.
Repeat at each meal.
