I'd love to learn Chinese!!

When I went to BeiJing, I could practise the few words I know, and I was shocked that people actually understood me and replied!!!!!!!

Basically what surprised me was that I had learned how to spell the words but not how to pronounce them. I pronounced them the way I figured they must be pronounced, but I had no background. When I first landed in BeiJing and said "ni hao" to two members of the flight crew and they replied "ni hao" I was like, wooo hoooooo I can speak Chinese!!
