Superstitions

Post by Sveta »

Hi. I'm from Ukraine.
There are many superstitions in my country.
The most common of them are:
black cat which pass on your way - bad luck
scattered solt - fall out with somebody
broken mirror - bad luck
left palm is scratched - you will get money
I know somebody believes that opening umbrella inside a building is bad luck, but in my country people don't believe in it.
And what about you? Do you believe in superstitions?
What superstitions do you know?

I'm from the Philippines and I see we have common superstitions. We also think broken mirror or broken glass is a sign of an upcoming bad luck. We also have the same superstition about itchy palms.

Other superstitions from my country (we have so many!):

- If you accidentally bite your tongue, it means someone is thinking of you
- Cutting or trimming your nails at night will bring you bad luck
- Bride-to-bes should not fit their wedding dress before the wedding

Hi, i am from Vladivostok, Russia. We have an interesting superstition :)
- Don't step on a hatch, if you did this it will bring you bad luck.
If you don't want to have a bad luck then you must knock at your back three times and say "Go to hell!"

Hi! My name is Minji from South Korea.
We have many superstitions but I want to explain one thing related to our body.
If you shake or tremble your legs, you will miss your fortune!
Moreover, it`s not polite behavior in front of adults.
Therefore, Koreans don`t shake their legs.
That is one of our superstitions!
Thank you-*

It is quite like my country, Vietnam
i want to add some
have a haircut- bad luck
your right eye blink- something bad will arise to your family member
your left eye blink- someone is thinking of you
with Vietnamese, according to lunar calendar, those days are bad: 5th,13th, 14th ,23th. They hardly do their important thing such to open a new shop, start a new building...in those days. If they want to go somewhere that is far from their home, they don't go in 7th, 17th, 27th, and don't come back their home in 3rd, 13rd, and 23rd.
If they are about to have a test, they don't eat eggs, because of the fear of getting a zero

I am starting to believe in this one. A black cat crossed my way last week, and then in the same evening I became ill. It lasted for three days. A few days later I saw this stray black cat again when I went out to take a stroll, it was going to cross my way again. I noticed that and added velocity to the walk and did not allow cat to spoil my day. :-)

I think there is not superstitions. It is just coincidetn to corelate with each other.Everything is predetirmine by god and it is just done. This is not because of superstitions.
