what way to study english ?

in common , we often use words in english by remembering word by word and meaning of them ,which makes us know many vocabulary,but when we want to make a sentence (if it is an easy sentence with simple structure, we can do it fast even exactly) how about the other sentences?
in my opinion ,and lots of ideas we should new words by putting them in context because one word has amount of diffrent meanings ,so you can pick up them in dictionary with the accompany examples especially for the country which english is used as new language such as viet nam and so on
hence you also can study them by writing them into a piece of paper ,it is useful for you to go out and bring it
