New year day in Vietnam

Tet is one of the biggest holiday in Vietnam. It is on January 1 of the lunar calendar. It lasts from december 31 to January 3 of the lunar calendar . A lot of festive activities are organized to attract local and foreign tourists during the Tet . The most special feature in Ho Chi Minh is Nguyen Hue flower market with a wide of variety of beautiful and rare flowers organized from December 23 to 29 of the lunar calendar , many orchid and lion dance contests are organized at many parks in the city. On New year's Eve is the most special night of the year, almost members in family get together and have large dinner with many Vietnamese traditional dishes such as " Mien xao ( vermicelli and pork stirred in fat ) canh mang ham gio heo ( dried bamboo shoots stew with pig's feet ) thit kho tau ( Chinese braised pork; and wait to midnight. People nearly don't go to sleep When the clock sounds twelve beats, firework explodes everywhere, at the same time Vietnamese families offer food to dead ancestors. After that a lot of Buddhists go to Pagoda On January 1,People get up early and have breakfast with Vietnamese traditional dishes such as "Banh tet or banh chung"( Vietnamese traditional cakes) all members in family stand round grandparents and parents to wish a Happy New Year and receive lucky money from them, then people visit to relatives or friend houses
Tet is days that everybody visits relatives, friends, teacher
