What is a Friend?

When you're down and troubled, who is with you?
When you're weary, who cheers you up?
When you need someone to lean on, who is that someone?
When you're happy and enjoying life, who laughs with you?
I have only one answer to those question... your friend!
A friend may be your father or mother;
Or a sister or a brother;
It may be a pet or a cherished possession;
Or one of those fictitious persons.
Ask me who my friend is,
Oh! I have plenty.
They're always there when I need them.
They're always present when I need a friend.

Now tell me, to you, what is a friend?

a friend in someone who is not hard on you
when other people are and is a bit hard on
you when no one else is...if you know what
i mean...they push you to be your absolute
best and they still love you at your absolute
worst...they love you through all your mistakes
and never leave... they help you find out who
you really are by asking tough questions for you
to think on, they are honest with you sharing
moods, happiness anger and all the emotions in
between...they are genuine in being intrested in
what you have to say about things...they dont
just pretend to care, they really do care about you

pets can heal with just a look
they come to you when you
seem to need them and let you
touch pet and hold them when
it may seem like everthing is falling
they remind you they are here


objects are comforting too
i have certain things that make me
feel...pretty or that i have done well
or that remind me of a person or a good time
pictures are comforting, plants comfort
things i have written, poetry and my books
these all comfort me, looking through my
cd collection for a music to fit my mood,
and finding the perfect cd, this comforts me
looking at the happy dresser that i painted
things like these are friends too, somehow
and they are constant and are there until
you might need to replace them when they
have grown old or no longer suitable...in this
way things are actually loyal to us, i see it.

family is a possible friend too
you have so many things that
you share...even DNA and your
ancestral legacy, which is cool
and they may fit the top-most
requirement for a genuine friend
more than others or less but they
probably have known you longer
and best, so if a person in your
family is also your friend then
you are very truly and surely
the one who's most greatly blessed!

It's not true for all cases, I think. Perhaps, the author wanted to say that your friend maybe betray you once, but after that, when he/she realizes you're a good friend, he/she will be a faithful friend. So, that he/she betray you the second time, it is your fault. Is it??? Ahhh, I don't get it too... :?

If that person was really your friend in the beginng with, that person was not supposed to betray you. Instead, that person had to stick with you through thick or thin. If someone who was your friend and betrayed you, that person was never your friend in the first place. And if that person betrayed you again, it was not supposed to be your fault. That person should be considered as an evil person who came to you again asking for your forgiveness. However, that person stayed with you for a purpose-- to hurt you again. How could it be one's fault when someone else intedended to betray that person? Sometimes, I think those little poems just do not suit me. Perhaps, my way of living is different. I dont know.... :?

darlings it means simply this:
If a person shames you once...
shame on them
if a person shames (betrays) you again
(even twice)
shame on you for not learning their that they couldn't be trusted and letting them betray you a second time around...
thus it is a saying to beware once a person has hurt you and gaurd from being hurt again where then it becomes your own fault for trusting the bad character you knew would hurt you.

SO Understand... (of course you do)

Basically I dont like it but (as a theory) because it is saying not to trust after even one betrayal...but it is smart I suppose...just not very forgiving! which I tend toward...as a general rule and it has benefited me most to be forgiving instead of cold...and guarded.
Still it is a good advice...if you want to never risk getting hurt.

Anyway I dont like shaming people who get hurt so...
I would have spoken the thought out differently....it reminds me of a story that just happened to me round Christmas time...
(but I have to go now...I share it later said the old crone)
