Help with slang

Post by Elba »

Any day someone post a reply to me:

"lock up the frigging topic"

And then I search in some dictionaries and find the next definition:

v. Vulgar Slang frigged, frig·ging, frigs
v. tr.
To have sexual intercourse with.
To perform an act of masturbation on.

v. intr.
To have sexual intercourse.
To masturbate.

frig·ging ( P ) Pronunciation Key (frgng)
adj. Vulgar Slang
Used as an intensive.

And then I got confussed:
May I considered that the sentence is an insult?
May I considered that the sentences is only a cheap sentecen?
How I can know when a slang expresion is obnouxious or not?
What is the differences between slang and idiom?
Thanks in advance

Actually, Elba, the word frigging used here is a replacement for another word. People use frigging because it is more acceptable than its replacement. The word it replaces is a four-letter F word as well which means sexual intercourse. That word is not tolerated.

The sentence is not a direct insult to you. Think of it this way..."Lock the stupid topic." It means pretty much the same thing.
