good morning, afternoon, etc.

Hello, this is my first question... I'm not very sure about how to ask it so I hope it is ok... what time of the day should I say good morning, good afternoon, good evening and good night? What about during small hours, 1 pm to 3 pm?

Say good afternoon after 12 noon. Say good afternoon until dusk. Say good evening or good night anytime from dusk onwards until you leave a place or go to bed or the sun rises. Say good morning from the time you wake up until 12 noon. If you wake up at 3 am for example you can say good morning. But if it is 3 am and you have been up all night you can say good night.
