Hello.
Please help me to choose the correct word and preposition:
The Democrats are hoping to join with (?) / join (?) / unite with (?) the Republicans.
Thank you.

Hello,
Both would work if you want to express that the Republicans and the Democrats are going to come together to complete a task. I would say that neither one sounds better or worse. Thanks

As always context is important and you have not provided enough context to enable a conclusive answer. The following example sentences may help you:
The Democrats are hoping to join with the Republicans in voting against the proposal.
The Democrats are hoping to join the Republicans. The Democrat Party will then be a thing of the past.
The Democrats are hoping to unite with the Republicans. The new party will be called the Republicocrats.
