hey, guys, i am not a native english user but a Chinese, recently i read the novel, ANNA KARENINA, in which, the word is used like: he pictures vividly the face of the girl in front of his eyes. I understand what the whole sentence means. What i wonna to ask is, do we use the word 'vividly' to describe such a situation often? or we just use other substitution like clearly, definitly in stead?
thx you all
about the word 'vividly', do we use it often?

Hello,
I think you will see the word "vividly" in writing more than in conversation. Of course, it depends on the education of the speaker. You hear the word "vividly" when talking about what someone remembers in every day English conversation a lot. "I vividly remember the car wreck. i can still hear the windows breaking." I think in most regular every day conversations English speakers would use a word like "clearly" in the example that you gave.
