Difference between pass a message and forward a message

Post by kwfine »

Dear teachers,

I was trying to access a teacher on his office phone number, but was redirected to the enquiry center, but this time,
a real human was greeting me and asked me who I was looking for.
I told her that I wanted to talk to teacher Claudia, but she told me that Claudia was busy at that moment.
Then she asked me this question:
(1): Do you want to pass or forward a message to Claudia?
I felt confused when she said "pass or forward a message to Claudia.

My understanding to "forward a call" is that
I will talk to Claudia at a later time because Claudia will have been alerted by the enquiry ceneter that I wanted to talk to her over the phone.
Is this correct?
But I am sure "forward a call" is different from "forward a message, and so is "pass a message".

Could you tell me what the differences between "pass a message" and "forward a message" are?

Thank you.

As fas as I am concerned, here, "pass" means "succeed". So, you're offered continuance in calling Claudia.
Regarding the latter part, you're offered to use her as a medium/tool for eventual sending your message to Claudia.

So, it seems to me her sentence was correct, and she was very well trained.
