What should this story be about

I need direction for how this story will turn out. I've written this so far but have no idea for how to proceed. Also it needs to include something about discovery.

The clock Struck 3:00 and theses talks had been completely fruitless. The deadline was set only a few days away. As soon as everybody noticed the time, everything that had been set out throughout the meeting room soon disappeared back to where they had been. 10 minutes passed and the whole cohort had left, only the ticking sound of the clock remained.

It sounds as though it could be based on a true story! I hope, therefore, that it will go somewhere down the route of the theses being fantastically well written and completed in a timely manner!
