Pronunciation of "director"
Please, help! I was always sure that the word "director" should be pronounced [dai rekte] in British English, but recently I've seen in a dictionary [di rekte]. Some online dictionaries give both varients: [dai rekte] is British English , [di rekte] is American English . Some dictionaries give the varient [di rekte], BUT when I listen to the word it is [dai rekte]. And some give the only varient [di rekte]. I'm at a loss. HELP!

[dai rekte] sounds right to me; I've never heard anyone in England saying [di rekte] and I've been living there for quite some time.
