I finally figured it out. I was born in Phan Ly. Lennye Train, you were very close. Phan Ly is actually only 15 kms north of Phan Ri. I'm so excited. I'm going to be in Vietnam this April and I will be spending a good part of my trip in Song Mao which is 40 kms west of Phan Ly. I'm definitely going to check out my birthplace.

Thanks again, Len.

 Your spelling on page one wasn't Phan Ly, dude. Actually, I thought it was either Phan Ly or Phan Ri, but since I never knew we had a province called Phan Ly; therefore, I just mentioned Phan Ri.
Anyhoo, lucky you! My cousin is going back there for a vacation this coming up January. I really wanted to go, but I'll have a lot of things to take care before I could be able to make a trip that long  . I and my other cousins have planned to go there in Xmas 2006, though. We've made a promise on it. I haven't been back there for Xmas, so I'm really looking forward for this one. Gosh, Christmas in Vietnam is the best 8) .

Hmmm...hmm..hmm... last week my manager called me out to talk and then he was like, "hey your last name is Tran, which sounds like train. Cool. From now on your nickname is Choochoo." Well, since he was my manager, so I had to pretend to laugh and said, "Oh gosh, after a week of working with you and you've already got me a nickname; I feel special." Man, I really wanted to say to him that the next time he called me Choochoo, I'd let my cousin's dog choochoo his dangler. So, you've got the hint, Susu???

This is what I wrote the first time. First, I didn't write Phan Ly because I didn't know it was Phan Ly. Second, I specifically wrote it is spelt phonetically. Fan Lei is how it sounds in Cantonese.

Don't you think Fan Lei sounds closer to Phan Ly than Phan Ri?
