I like them but they are not to be taken as universal. We don't have to be slave of them. They are advises and they are not rules. We decided to follow these advises or not to follow them, in each situation.

There are imperative proverbs and constatative proverbs.

For example :

imperative (for action) : everything you do, do it the soonest (sooner than later)

constatativ : the world is not enough

Shokin
Nous sommes libres. Wir sind frei. We are free. Somos libres. Siamo liberi.

But you anounced that here is an english forum, people shouldn't post other languages here, maybe you forgot?
you naughty girl! ;)

Here is a Chinese proverb:
what you don't want is just what others don't want.

it means, if you don't want something, then don't try to impose it on other people.

it makes sense? I think so.

Good luck, honey!

Three important rules:
1. NO ADVERTISEMENT! Your post will be removed without warning!
2. Other languages beside English are welcome only when they are for learning and studying purposes.
3. Please do not post another topic if it is already existed.

This thread is for people who have a need to know more about Asian proverbs or proverbs in general. It is for people who would like to share something they think is inspirational, enlightening and meaningful.

I'm bi-sexual. It's a whole lot of a difference than lesbian in a sense.

Indian proverbs

(alpanige aishwarya bandre ardha rAthrili koDe hiDkonDa (Kannada)
When a poor fellow got rich, he had an umbrella over his head in midnight.
-A symbol of richness in olden times was to have a servant hold an umbrella while the rich man rode in the sun. The new rich would flaunt by doing it at night when there is no need for it.

Elaimayil kalvi, silaiyil ezhuthu (Tamil)
(Education in your childhood is like the letters in a sculpture)
-What you study during your childhood will never be forgotten.

halliddAga kaDle illa; kaDle iddAga hallilla (Kannada)
(There are no nuts when one has teeth and there are no teeth when there are nuts).
-Munching nuts is a sign of prosperity. It is frustrating that one is poor when the youth to enjoy the riches is abundant whereas when one finally gets rich the faculties to enjoy are gone.

hosa vaidyanigintha haLe rOgine mElu (Kannada)
(An old patient is better than a new doctor).
-This stems from a suspicion of inexperienced and untested people with education vis a vis wise, familiar and old fellows of dubious qualifications.
