Welcome to Singapore!

Postby babyangel » Tue May 17, 2005 4:06 pm

Hi all, I'm from Singapore. Welcome to my country. It is a lovely one.:D What do you think about these nice pics?

Note: I have edited the links to a smaller font so the layout of the topic would not change because of the links.

Note from Admin: Very good idea to use a smaller font, but the links were to images and not the pages with those images. They have therefore been removed. Please read the Rules before posting.

Note from babyangel: Welcome to Singapore though there are no pictures here.

They're lovely! Your country is such a clean country. I've been told that it's the cleanest Asian country and Singaporeans have the lightest English accent compared to other Asian people. I haven't talked to any Singaporean in person, but my cousins have. They said Singaporeans, indeed, do have the lighest English accent. Or maybe it's because your country official languages have English included. How many languages do you speak, by the way?

You're so right, Lennye Tran :!: Singaporeans speak English the most beautifully in Asia hehe :R:
Malay is our national language and E is the language of administration and commerce. We also speak Tamil and Chinese. My cousins can speak Mandarin but I can't.

So you could speak three languages: English, Malay and Tamil, right? Is the Malay language in your country the same as the language that Malaysians use in Malaysia? And what is Tamil? What is it related to?

My friend's studied abroad in Hong Kong for one year. She told me it was the most interesting time she has ever had. Over here in the States, we get to choose to study abroad if we want to and we still get the same paying and stuff. The thing is it's pretty hard to get into the program since so many students love to study abroad. The main point of it is keep your GPA good and you'll get a chance. Now I think I should have applied for it two years ago. I wasted that chance because I didn't wanna leave my family for that long. Otherwise, I would have gone to China, France, Spain, Hong Kong, or Japan    .

In Hong Kong, there is no such a benefit provided by the government like the states. In our case, if you want to study abroad, you can do it at any time as long as you have money$$$$$.
