 I did not know this. Thanks for this info. I'm gonna look around the net to know more about this. I'm not really familiar with all the stories starting from Ngo Quyen to the Nguyen time. I'm totally lost with their legends and stories  .

Do you love your COUSIN ??
I notice always that you talk about your cousin !!!
my opinion will come >>>>>>>>>>

I have cousins in France, and I used to like one of them. Don't get all grossed out yet and let me explain my reason. His father, or as I called him my uncle, married to some French woman, and then their relationship didn't work out well; therefore, she got custody of the children and moved somewhere far. My cousin didn't get in touch with his dad until he was 30ish-- twenty years later after his parents's divorce. He actually had been trying to find my uncle and my great-aunt on his own. When they finally met, they decided to take him back to Vietnam without telling anyone there that they'd gotten in touch with him. This was why when I first saw him, I thought he was so cute and kinda liked him. However, when I found out he was my cousin, I got grossed out, or as you put it, the feelings were gone. We just hung out as like buddies or siblings. It was the first and last time that I actually had a feeling with one of my cousins. Normally, I just love them as my siblings. I can stay mad at someone for years if I wanted to, but I can't do that with them. I just can't stay mad at them for more than a day.

I am confusing.
it is usual to marry your cousin ,
but there is a problem with DISEASEs HEREDITARY
here in my country has problem with that .
so I don't even think about any relatives

I think the last name was originally from China. They have this name in their culture. I think it's called Chan.

Oh yeah definitely. We're not allowed to marry our cousins in Vietnam. This is the reason why I wanted to know if Chinese people have this law or not since most of Hong Kong movies show one cousin gets married to another. My Chinese friends said it's not true because it's gross. I wonder why the producers show it if it's not what people think. Isn't it misleading? :?

Hello guys.
I'm really confused!! first, I think I can't understand this topic,
in my country(Iran) people can marry with their cousin and this happen.
We are moslem and in our religion can marry with our cousin.
In Iran this kind of marriage was more in past, but now it become less.now people know rate of Genetic disease will be increased with this kind of marriage!
but still someone may love his/her cousin and want to marry his/her, so after some Genetic exams(they are recommanded.)they can be wife and husband.

Well, good time is when Hong Kong movies dominated the Asian movie industry, and bad time is when Korean movies are the hot topics of married women  . There is one thing about Hong Kong movies that is quite not clear to me. Well, it's about one cousin gets married to another. I've asked my Chinese friends. They told me it's not true because it's gross. It is, indeed. However, if it's gross to Chinese people's opinion, then why those producers keep showing it as like a part of Chinese culture. Isn't it a confusing and misleading for the movie-watchers? I, myself, once thought it was okay for Chinese people to marry their cousins........

Hi,LennyeTran:I am from China,so I guess I can remove your haze 8) .Actually ,marring cousins is an ancient culture of China. In the post, chinese advocate that the relation of relatives should be closer. They think marring cousins can make they connect more closely. And the familiy will be more stronger oppsiting others'family.
However, this culture has become an unpractical culture now.Today in most areas of China, peole have given up this custom. Moreover,if you marry your cousin, people will feel weird 8) .However,in some minority areas, the custom is still popular. 8)
