chance for adults to use their English

I am in China,many people can speak english well,beacuse chinese study english from their childhood.

That's interesting, since when I was in China, I could communicate in English only with the hotel staff

I think that population is in Hong Kong, Shanghai or Macau and within the young generation. The old generation don't speak English. They refuse to learn it even when they've come to the States also.

I didn't know that so many people in China can speak English.
Now in Japan Japanese students start to study English from the junior high school as the compulsory education.
Many Japanese people including me think they should do it faster.
Although I already have a job, I'm working on studying English now. But unfortunately I don't have any chance to speak English without in my English conversation school.
How about you? Do you have any chance to speak English in public?
