Of course I used the Yahoo Babel Fish Translation. I haven't started the class yet until August (I'm thinking of not taking it due to my schedule ), so what made you think I could write that sentence by myself?

Sometimes the Babel Fish translation makes some lame sentences that don't sound right at all. That's why I was wondering if it failed me this time or not. Fortunately, it translated the sentence correctly this time. Thanks for checking it for me, metaltoy.

No it didn't translate it right. It should be "あたしはだいすき, Hardi!", not "あたしはにくむ, Hardi!".

My English teacher from the U.S. told me the books were very good for people studying Japanese.

Studying from Japanese anime is good but it includes many slang words.

"watashi" is better than "atashi" , "gomennasai" is better than "gomen".
By the way, "watashi" is used by adults and girls in formal situation. Boys use "boku" instead.
"atashi" is used by women when they talk with their friends.

Thanks, metaltoy. I'll check these books out. I also have a lot of Japanese textbooks that I bought some years ago. However, it's more about the time and discipline than what kinda textbooks are good for me. I always procrastinate things. Therefore, I need to take the class to put me in a position, which I cannot be lazy. Also, it's better for me to have a teacher since I'm not good at self-studying.

I don't know those books. I usually don't read books. After all they are mostly made for English speakers. I'm not good about English. But to not do be behind of Lennye, I will look from google for some torrents to download some free e-book.
I don't take this studying too lightly, neither I have hurry with it. So it doesn't make different, if I learn Anime slang or impolite words first. It's good if I learn anything at all.

What with all this politeness anyway? Until I only talk to Lennye there isn't any different if I use polite terms or not I can freely say omae or anta to her, she don't mind. I know Japanese Have at least 3 different form for almost every word. The polite one, neutral one and offensive one.. and I think there was also the different version of polite version of some words to talk to/about Emperor.

Is boku used only by young boys, or also by adults? And watashi can still be used by male? ..I think I have seen in movies also men use watashi.. (maybe he was gay)

I have some time ago searched by my self about the use of them, from net.. Whether to use: watashi, boku or ore.. (I think there was actually some more words to refer I to Japanese but don't remember them) I did not find out much. Only that ore is somewhat arrogant.. Like in case, when I want to tell: "Lennye I will kick your butt!" then "Ore" is preferable.

I use "watashi" in formal places and business letters. In this case, I NEVER use "ore".
I use "ore" in talking with friends.

If you don't like to read books, shall we play a Japanese traditional word games "shiratori"?
It's good for lerning words. Do you know the game?

I now know what "shiratori" is. It's a word game, where each write one Japanese word(and it's english translation) that start with the last kana of last word.

Example when last word was "いぬ(inu) = dog" then next one post a word that start with "ぬ(nu)nu" example "ぬくみ(nukumi) = warmth."

It seems that It's also not preferred to end a word with "n" (I believe it's because there's probably very few words in japanese that star with n)

It's good idea.. At least when lennye let me to play it, cos she may start hating me again, since if I play it too much. I may surpass her with my great knowledge again (Like I always do).

PS. Lennye, should we make new thread for that game?
