1.The luckiest number is eight because it also means "prosperity"
2.Don't stick chopsticks upright into a bowl of rice.
This resembles incense sticks placed into food left for spirits.
3.The unluckiest number is four as it sounds like the Chinese word for death.
Most hospitals and hotles don't even have a fourth floor.
4.White or yellow flowers, especially chysanthemums, are used for funerals.
5.Don't sweep the floor on Chinese New Year's Day lest you sweep away good fortune.

These are some taboos in Taiwan,I hope can share with you.
And I also want to know more about taboos in the forien :)

in kuwait there are many things you should put in mind not to do them because they indicated disrespect and impolitness to yourself and to the people around you:

-you should not cough or sneeze straight forward while talking or eating, you should put a tissue or your hand and turn your head little away from the person infront you, or bend it little down.

- never mention any bad word while eating - even if you are with your family or closest friends - you'll be scorned if you do.

in the past:
- if you visit some one's house, you shouldn't walk in shoes on the carpets.
nowadays, our houses floors are covered with marbles, so it's ok to walk in shoes :P
