English to English Dictionary

Postby Unknownsu » Mon Apr 18, 2005 12:02 am

I was watching Hugh Grant's About a Boy and I had minor difficulty understanding some of the dialogue used in the movie.

The fine folks of England have, aside from the accent, a slightly different vocabulary than, say, Canadians, Australians and Americans. From what I gathered:

A bloke is an average guy. A slowcoach is equivalent to a slowpoke. A nappy is a diaper. A fag is slang for cigarette.

Does anyone know more?
