the word shocking ıs subjectıve I think and changes according to every culture for example

ın German AS ı HEarD where two or more guys go on café or a restaurant etc everybody pays for their own bill no body asks for the other to pay

but İN Turkiye boys do not even permit the ladies to attempt to pay the bill and guys do not hesitate to pay the bill if they have enough money and this is called "Turk USULÜ"(Turk method":):)

culture shock?
means differences between cultures.

Culture shock is a term used to describe the anxiety and feelings (of surprise, disorientation, confusion, etc.) felt when people have to operate within an entirely different cultural or social environment, such as a different country or a different state than where they live (e.g. urban southern California vs. rural North Carolina).

The term was introduced for the first time in 1954 by Kalvero Oberg. Other researchers who have subsequently worked on culture shock include Michael Winkelman.

Thanks to wikipedia
