European Union

Postby Rui » Wed Jan 31, 2007 12:18 pm

well, i've decided to write something here to see if we can give some life to this section of our board which unfortunately has been a bit left without any discussions going on, so my question, or actually not a question but more an opinion about what does it mean European Union to the members of this board, the discussion its open to no EU citiziens, in fact it would be also great to figure what people from others parts of the world think about this Organization leading the old continent, and of course your perspectives about what we should expect in the future and what we would like it to be, resuming all these questions i would like to see answered by you im gonna make them more directly to turn it a bit easier to answer

1-What do you think about EU in General?

2-which things do you think we have won or improve with EU and the ones where we have lost, and the balance of those reazons you mentioned are for better or worst conditions?

3- what do you think about the enlargement to these new countries?

4-what do you think about the all issue around Turkey? should they join EU or not?

5-what would you like to see EU become in the future?

i think its enough by now  looking forward to read your answers.

I just know one thing:

This euro thing is a piece of c***!!!!! Prices are higher than ever while paychecks are still the same. Before you had 10,000 pessetes in your pocket and you could buy loads of stuff, now you go to the supermarket with 60 euros and you get almost nothing. It's a shame!

The Brits knew how to do things right in this sense.

The EU sounds like a big bag of wind to me. What is it supposed to do anyway?

Well Danyet without researching this topic I must say that you would know exactly what would qualify for a big bag of wind.

May I ask you a question about borders?

do the members of the EU have to apply to Embassies to make a trip from Catalunya to London for instance (my best wishes to Dixie)? or anytime you may buy a ticket and go wherever you wish? If it's so, don't you find it nice?
and moreover as a member of a country that will never enter the EU due to it's geografical position I find it wonderful when going to Europe I don't have to bother about the currency. But as a common human I realise that you guys must fell sorry for your pesetas, luidors I don't know... as all that coins and notes are a part of your history.

well, i've tried to answer your questions before tora, and i had just given up because im having some problems to write new threads here since sometimes a error appears saying that im using an "invalid session" or something like that, so now going straight to the point due to the reason of not being sure if this is gonna work:

yeah, all the citizens can travel between the states belonging to EU without passport, we just need our national identification if travel by plane, otherwise you wont need anything at all, i could drive from here until finland without show any identification, and then i could also stay on any EU member for a period of three months without communicate anyone that i had intentions of staying there and therefore ask for permanent residence permission

1) i think it is nothing but just a common market for free trade. i dont believe that it really represents all the continent as a 'union'. cause the union has lots of fierce contradictions within especially between germany, france and england.

2) as being from a non-member country, it is better not to answer this.

3)it is higly political and have no economic basis. the first enlargement wave was the joint of the new free countries of the old soviet russia. in a way, this was a must for the union. recently romani and bulgaria have joined with a low economy and many social problems.

4)today, what is going on about turkey in the union is different than it seems. it is not a problem of 'should they join or not'. it is just a political game to influence and control turkey with never-ending demands in the name of joining the union.

5)again, for the reason in the second uestion, i dont care about its future
