Caucasian is the word. Some folks get offended when they are referred to as Whites.

Only idiots would be offended at that. I have never even heard of anyone taking offence to it. "Caucasian" does not refer to white people in all parts of the world, particularly in Russia.

Also, I did a little research and found a chronology about Germans coming to the U.S. and Americans with German ancestors. It's pretty interesting. For example, I didnt know that a German man was once the mayor of New York, president Eisenhower had German ancestors, General von Steuben trained the American army, Henry Kissinger who was Secretary of State, was born in Germany and so on.

Here is the link with much more information:

Yes you are Manrat.

Wow! I did not know that German group has been big contributed to this country until now. Where am I? Thanks.

It may be true if you combine all white people in one group

I think what they mean “White 1” is a group of white people who mixed more than one ancestry. They could not identify their original.

 Have you called a Caucausian White in front of his/her face?

Caucasian is a term prefers to people who have European background although its technical definition is a of or belonging to a racial group having light skin coloration; or a member of the Caucasoid race [syn: White, white person, Caucasian] Russia is a big country; some parts belong to Europe and some parts belong to Asia. I've seen Russian people who prefer themselves as Asians and some prefer themselves as Europeans.

Yes. Hundreds of times. And I've been called white to my face thousands of times. I have no idea of what you are talking.

In Russia caucasian means someone from the caucas regions, and does not refer to white people. This word, Caucasion, means different things to different people. Be careful using this word when addressing an international crowd, it is ambiguous whereas "white people" is not.

Give me a sentence or an example when people call you White without saying "White people." Are you thinking of when people ask you "what's your nationality?" and you answer, "I'm White." Is that the case you're saying right here?

There you go. You said so yourself, the word Caucasian means different things to different people. So what makes you think some people don't consider Caucasians as Whites? When describing a "White" person on the news, the anchors would use Caucasian as well as White.

I have friends here that get offended by being referred to as Whites and I can tell you they are not idiots.
