Meet Deborah Davis. She's a 50 year-old mother of four who lives and works in Denver, Colorado. Her kids are all grown-up: her middle son is a soldier fighting in Iraq. She leads an ordinary, middle class life. You probably never would have heard of Deb Davis if it weren't for her belief in the U.S. Constitution.

One morning in late September 2005, Deb was riding the public bus to work. She was minding her own business, reading a book and planning for work, when a security guard got on this public bus and demanded that every passenger show their ID. Deb, having done nothing wrong, declined. The guard called in federal cops, and she was arrested and charged with federal criminal misdemeanors after refusing to show ID on demand.

I thought this was the story about the kid who was roughly handled by the cop for doing nothing.

Well, isn't it unlawful to not disply your ID to law enforcement when asked?

AS far as I know there is no law requiring citizens to carry ID in USA. This is something that Americans have always prided themselves on and one of the reasons that they say that they are the most free people.

First I have ever heard of anything like this happening in the States. If that happened in Australia there would be riots in the streets, it is not a military state! I'm sure she will win her case; it is just too ridiculous for words.

I think that certain news stories are not wanted by the big TV news people because it does not fit their agenda for us.

YOU, people, select YOUR agenda, not news people. They just show YOU what YOU want to see and hear!!! Don't you know that demand creates a supply!!!

It happens everywhere. Don't be a cry baby and point your gun at the US only. That's how media work. Take a class about it and you'll know!

I have found that it is quite legal in the USA for police to board a bus and ask for ID and permission to search bags. The thing that most people don't know is that it is also quite legal refuse to show ID and permission to search your bags. The police in these instances operate on bluff. But if you don't show ID they CAN take you to police house in order to identify you.

Well, if they can make you walking out of your car with your hands up on your head even though you have not done anything, I think there's nothing they cannot do.
