Hello, Maria Elisa. Pleased to meet you!
I've just read your message and I would like to help any way, if possible.
My name is Marisa, I'm 55 years old, I was born in Madrid, Spain, where I'm living at present.
I'm married but I've got no children.
¿Do you like pets? I've got a Maltesse dog that is my great pleasure :P She has long white hair, is very clever and weighs 3,2 kg. ...Lovely!
I've been working for (... all my life ? ), as when I was a young girl my mother needed economical help, but I'm very happy for it. No further problems!.
I started studying English when I was very young too, but I've never had the opportunity to travel abroad, so you may imagine, I can write better than I can speak, though my level is not very high, perhaps upper intermediate ... anyway I like the English language and I'm still studying it (never too late ¿don't yopu think?).
I feel like chatting with people all over the world and if you write to me again whenever you can, I'll be really glad.
I wish you a great success in your career!
Best regards, Marisa

Hello Maria Elisa!
You got a few replies already, but I think one more wouldn’t hurt.
I live in the golden state California. They call it the golden state because of the gold rush back in the nineteenth century. I believe it is one of the best places to live (though I haven’t been to many others). I am very happy that I live here. However, I am not an American. I came here from Ukraine four years ago.
I love English. Since I have started studying English, a completely new world opened for me. Now I can communicate with people from all over the world. I can enjoy books by American and English writers in the originals versions. I can enjoy the songs in English, etc.
My previous semester, I worked as an ESL tutor at my college. I loved that job. I could help others learn English and improve my own English skills as well. I also like Spanish. A few weeks ago, I started taking Spanish classes. I like Latin American culture and people. I hope to travel to many Latin American countries in the future.
My major is statistics, so I have to concentrate on studying statistics, math, and programming. However, because I live in an English speaking country now, I need to improve my English skills a great deal. That’s why I try to visit this forum as often as possible. I think it really helps.
As for my hobbies, I have many. I like to knit and crochet, but unfortunately I don’t have much time for that. I love to read. I mostly read in English (once again because I want to improve my English skills), but also I try to find time for reading in my native language. I like going to museums, visiting historical places, hiking, going to the ocean, going out with friends. I like to roller blade or take walks by the river.
I hope this forum will be useful for you. And we its members will do our best to help you. After all, it is what we all are here for: to help each other.

Hi Maria Elisa, i'm 26-year-old guy from Russia, Novosibirsk. Some foreigners often wonder: it must be damn cold over there (in Siberia); some wonder: oh are there any people living in this place? I'd say: it's cold in here only in winter and for your information there's a great bunch of people living here, though the life isn't piece of cake for most of my countrymen. As for me, i'm English teacher and American English catches my fancy in a big way. I've been knocking about here and there and came to the conclusion that i like USA better than anyplace of the world. I'm hoping to remove to that land one day at best.
