Thanksgiving

Postby vince90 » Mon Nov 20, 2006 9:19 pm

Once again Thanksgiving is coming back in America. It’s a time to offer thanks, family gathering and the holiday meals with turkey, stuffing, and pumpkin pie.

As others, we’re going to my mother in-laws house on Thanksgiving Day to celebrate it. This year we will make a little bit different. Instead of having turkey, my brother in-law will roast the gooses for the main course and he also makes the pumpkin soup. My sister in-law will make some Vietnamese spring rolls and prepare some Vietnamese cold cut for the appetizers. For me I am going to make some side dishes. I like to add some seafood flavor to the meal so I will make the garlic shrimp salad and the seafood stuffed mushrooms. Last but not least my wife will make a pumpkin pie for the desert. I don’t know how she makes it because she hasn’t done it before, so good luck to her. Yes, my son loves the pie but he will miss the turkey drumsticks this year.

It’s fun that everybody involves and creates something for the holiday. We usually joke around the table that how bad food people make and we always have a good laugh. Do you celebrate similar holiday in your country?

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

 Goose for Thanksgiving? It sounds pretty refresing. I'm scared of eating goose more than turkey, so I don't think I would dare to try. Anyway, are you going to the Friday sale this week?

A lot of people have goose or different meat for Thanksgiving in these days Lenny. I guess they are tire of dry and tasteless turkey meat. Actually most of Asians say that. :D I am not going to shopping this Friday. It’s too crowd and I don’t think I will survive in the mall. I will stay home to put up the Christmas tree. How is about you? Where do you spend on Thanksgiving Day?

At México we don´t celebrate thaksgiven, but we celebrate december 12 de day of Virgen de Guadalupe. We go to church, only some people go to work or to school, this is a big day,as big as the Mothers day and we celebrate with mexican dishes, but not turkey.

In the picture, she looks the same as Virgin Mary. Is Virgin de Guadalupe a local name of Virgin Mary?

:? Maybe they cook it wrong, or they've had too much turkey during the year??? I eat turkey only on Thanksgiving, so the taste of turkey is pretty good to me. Also, I love turkey sandwiches more than ham or chicken. 8) I find goose smells kinda bad, you know. The goose pate is good, though. *drooling*

I'm going to Wal-mart again this Friday, Vince. After 11am, we'll go to somewhere else to continue the shopping. I think I'll start to put up the Xmas tree this year in my house also, so I'm gonna buy some Xmas stuff and presents for people I know.

Yes Vince is the same, as is the same Lourdes, Fatima, etc. Chatolics belive that Maria has been presenting herself in all the countries, but in different ways. At frances she makes herself visible to a girl called Bernardet, At Fatima she did it to a three children, at México she presented to a indian called Juan Diego.
I think is the way of Vatican to do a holly colonization of the towns.
Here is a big day, lots of women here are called Maria, I save from the tradition because my brother wanted I called Maria Elba, but Mom decide only Elba and Rose too  I prefer only Elba.
