Well, the same happens here. People don't usually take their shoes off at home. I do, though, probably because I was raised that way: the first thing my parents do when they get home is to take off their shoes and put their slippers on. That's why me and my siblings do it, too.
I remember back in college my roommate didn't take her shoes off until she went to bed. Sometimes it made me nervous
