Independence Day July 4th

That was cheap! We usually have a lot of food. It isn’t just burger and hotdog but we also have steak, rips, sausages and seafood. You won’t be hungry at my place Dixie.

That WAS cheap! I wasn't quite satisfied with my host family. But that's another story. And no, I wouldn't be hungry for sure, because if I ever spend another 4th of July in the States, I'll make sure to have a great breakfast, just in case!

What do Americans usually do on that day?

Not sure, but I know what my host family used to do. I remember that day very well, I didn't have no fun at all! Especially because I was hungry all day: I got up at 8 or 9am and just had a glass of orange juice for breakfast (which by the way didn't taste any good). My family used to eat a lot for breakfast -pancakes and other stuff- but I just wasn't used to eating too much for breakfast, especially because I wasn't hungry. So a glass of orange juice. What I didn't know is that I wouldn't eat anything until 6 or 7pm, when they started to cook hamburgers in the backyard. By the time I could finally grab a bite, I was starving

So, what they did was eat burgers in the yard while singing songs and throwing firecrackers, and later watching fireworks.

Exactly! That didn't even sound like a BBQ to me. A BBQ has to be loaded with food and drinks such as wines, beers, sodas, water, desserts (ice cream, watermelons, apple pies), salad fruits, salads, corns on the cobs, lasagna, kabobs, grilled meat, chips, etc. And we start eating around lunch time until the time the fireworks start, which is around 9 pm.

I am good. I was sick and I cancelled the cookout. Man, that was horrible weekend for me.

Wow, that was some sickness there. I'm sorry to hear that. So you stayed in bed the whole weekend and watched the fireworks on TV?
