Hello to everyone...

I'm learning English on my own, this is the first time I visit this great site, and would like to improve my English skills here in the site.

I will try to explain some of the words...

>> Milpitas – thousand cactuses???
Milpitas comes from the word "Milpa"
Milpita is the diminutive from Milpa (little Milpa)
A Milpa is a FIELD where people cultivate fruits, vegetables, etc.

>> Yerba buena – good grass, good herb???
Literally traducted it is OK, It is a plant with a mint flavor.

>>Salinas - something related to salt???
It is ok, something that contains salt, it could be water and other minerals.

>>Monterey – mountain king???
OK, Monte(Forest) Rey(King) From the Forest the King, the best Forest. I live in Monterrey City Mexico.

Regards.

Roberto.

That’s what I was thinking:
mil = thousand, pita = a plant with spiny-edged leaves, something similar to a cactus  . But I see now that your explanation makes more sense

Help, help, help!!! :!:

I´m writing an essay about el Templo de La Sagrada familia en Barcelona. But I also need to mention some other famous cathedrals in Europe. The problem is I don’t know how to translate their names in Spanish :? . Could you tell me the Spanish names of the following cathedrals?

The Cologne Cathedral in Germany
The Basilica of Saint Peter in Vatican
Westminster Abbey in England
Saint Basil’s Cathedral in Russia

Many thanks
