Biggest Problems with English

Postby Alttidude » Tue Jul 15, 2008 3:07 pm

Hey Everybody! I am doing a college research to help ESL's learn English, and I'd like to know which are the biggest problems you guys have with English! Is it speaking, writing, reading, or maybe another one? Or maybe you know a very effective way of approaching these problems. Please let me know! Hopefully we can come up with a new way of approaching these problems, and/or promote those that already work. So, throw out your concerns and your ideas!

Hey friend, welcome! :-D

Well, my biggest problem with English is related to its pronunciation. I have not traveled to an English speaking country yet, so maybe because of this I have problems to understand spoken English. I watch movies, I listen to music and news on web radios. But I'm not confident when I try to talk (I have tryed to talk with natives with Skype, MSN and others). But I'm sure I just have to practise more.

This is my biggest problem, but I see each one have more difficult with a different thing. I know people who can talk perfectly, but do not write so well. And so on.

8-)

First of all I'd like to apologies to the topic starter! Because my post will be off-topic. Sorry!

Hi Edumelo!
I've got almost the same problem! But I've never thought to use Skype to communicate with native English! Can you explain me here how to do that. I don't mean tech problems, I want to know how it is easier to push 'em to talk with me. I'm more than sure that ordinary English Skype user would never speak to me just to help me with my speaking problem... Thank you!!
It would be so kind if you pointed out my mistakes in my posts. I would be so greatful to you!

Hey Vasili, you can get acquainted with natives through sites like our EC and other sites like www.unilang.org/forum, www.sharedtalk.com (this is great), and so on. Sometimes it's hard to find people who really want to help, but you must try, that's very nice talk with them in English.

Good lucky!
