INXS- Chooses new lead singer.

Postby Shazzam » Fri Oct 14, 2005 8:48 am

I was a great fan of INXS, probably one of the greatest rock groups to come out of Australia. They were huge in the 80's and 90's. They were still recording when their lead singer MICHAEL HUTCHENCE was found dead in a plush motel room in Double Bay, Sydney.

Recently in America the remaining members of the band starred in a reality television show to find a new lead singer.

The show wasn't televised here but news has come through that the winner is a canadian man.

I just can't see this working. They are an aussie band. I think they should just forget it. No one will take the place of Michael Hutchence.

It is so disappointing that such an amazing group of artists have stooped to this level to resurrect their careers. :( :(

I tried to watch that TV show but could not find it. I am very curious to see who is chosen as the new lead singer. I never met Michael but we had mutual friends including an old girlfriend of his who was quite upset I remember at the news of his death. I did manage to see INXS play at an intimate club on George St in Sydney once. I was three feet from the band. It was a special show for his record company and the press. No one else was invited.

If they can choose someone as well as ACDC did, they will be lucky.

I saw INXS live at the ampitheatre in Darwin in the mid 80's (When their Listen like thieves album was released). They were amazing!

I must admit I disagree about acdc no one could replace Bon Scott. I hate the current lead screamer! He can't sing for nuts!

I heard the new INXS single yesterday (PRETTY VEGAS). I can't believe i'm saying this but at the beginning of the song it sounded just like Michael. It isn't too bad. I thnk the guy that won this competitions name is JD and he is from Canada (born in 1973). There is a picture of him on their web-site.

Maybe they have made the right choice. Time will tell.

Out of curiosity who was the x. I thought I knew just about everything about Michael Hutchence I was a massive fan?

She went by Ann or Anna I don't think I ever knew her last name. She was a model, brunette, that I first met in Milan, Italy. Then I ran into her again in New York and lastly in Los Angeles. Does it ring any bells for you? I would be interested to know if she is mentioned in any of his biographies. I never really thought about it before.

It must have only been a brief relationship because there is nothing about a girl with this name. There is alot of information about Kylie Minogue, Helena Christensen and Paula Yates.

It would have been before these girls. I first met her in 1983 and she had already broken up with him.

You should be able to download the new song from the internet to have a listen to. I like it; but I bet it won't do that well.
