Today in Australia 17 suspected terrorists were arrested under new laws. The fight scenes outside a court in Melbourne were beyond my belief. They should have been arrested.

There is going to be a backlash over these arrests; you can feel it coming.

To be honest bring it on. Every Australian will stand by their right to freedom; if these people want to live their lives with anger they can do it somewhere else.

Every Australian I have spoken to has said that the police are doing a good job; that the new laws will seek out people that have malicious intent towards Australia and its people. 8)

18th Terror suspect under arrest in Australia. Treasurer Peter Costello hasn't ruled out convicted terrorists being striped of their Australian Citizenship and deported. GREAT! I'm happy with that.

Net closes on new terror suspects

A group of Sydney men with links to the terrorism suspects arrested in raids last week have been placed under 24-hour surveillance amid fears that members of the alleged cell remain at large.

At the same time, Australian Federal Police Commissioner Mick Keelty has hailed the discovery in Sydney of a vehicle containing chemicals, documents and digging equipment as a "significant" breakthrough in the investigation.

Homes, businesses and mosques in Sydney's south-west are under constant watch by security agencies, all against a backdrop of simmering resentment among sections of the Islamic community that say they are being unfairly targeted.

I see no reason why they had to pass new laws just to do this!!!!!! This seems like it should be plain old standard proceedure.

There were always laws for entry etc. I think that the news laws have given the authorities great rights, and they are enforceable by the courts without challenge. I think that was the idea of them. 8)

Federal police say they have disrupted a 'significant' terrorism threat with the arrests of three Melbourne men and more arrests are likely as part of national counter-terror taskforce Operation Pendennis.

Hey Gorgeous 1 (so i have been informed) where can i find things you say about America ? I need to see if we are well matched since  Lenny (hey crazy girl) seems to think she will give you away to me as a gift
NoT! Just interested in your insight really.

I have plenty gripes about this country...none of them are usually expected from a "flower child" but they are genuine.
I want a gun, but since my hospitalizations in the psych ward...doubt if I should try to license one. I might get a rifle...so i can take out their kneecaps if someone stumbles in...this is L.A. and it's a Thug Life you know here....it is almost Cowboy's and Indains here.
Crip's and Blood's...close enough.

You can buy used guns in the newspaper. It is perfectly legal for citizens to buy and sell firearms privately

Guns do not need to be registered unless you live in certain places like New York, Mass., but in the truely free parts of the USA it is not neccesary. I suggest that you look in the Yellow Pages under GUNS and go to a gun store in your area and ask what the requirement is for buying firearms. Since you do not seem to already familiar with firearms I suggest that you also find out about a course on weapons training while you are there.

I once had talent as an archer, in a course we had in high school.... I am good at hitting a target, and I have fired bb guns, in my youth. Thats it, but I plan to move into the wilderness and who knows....I may need to protect us even out there.
