News tonight in Sydney. In the shire of Sutherland (south of Sydney). An elderly man aged 68; was bashed and his house burnt around him. Locals have said that he worked with youths on the street and various charity organisations, and was basically a great guy! I feel sick. I'm ashamed to be an Aussie tonight!!

What sort of sick ba...ard does this to such a gentleman. What makes it worse is that his older man did own a weapon but didn't use it. This makes police believe that he knew his attackers; they were probably people that he had tried to help.

:(

People who think that the world OWES them something have a propensity for this. People who take no responsibility for their own predicament!

That would be my guess, too.

Did you ever here of the "Granny Killer". He was a serial-killer that stalked and killed elderly women in the late 80's ( he was a late middle-aged man himself). He killed about six elderly women in Mosman/North Shore area of Sydney. He was eventually caught, and incarcerated. He hung himself in jail about 2 years ago.

I bet the elderly women weren't expecting someone in their own age group to carry out such a disgusting thing. Most elderly people are frightened of teenagers not peers.

What a shame he is dead :) :) :) He probably had no mates at all while in prison! It is hard to believe the double life he lead.

:? It would be pretty hard to make friends with someone who went around killing elderly women. Imagine how many inmates (no matter how hardened) had grandmothers themselves. I'm sure they didn't think much of him at all. The only reason the guy killed himself was because he couldn't stand the punishment that had been dished out. He obviously found it alright to go around murdering unsuspecting elderly ladies.

In my opinion he was a total 'sicko' and he deserved what he got. He took the cowards way out. That would pretty much sum up his personality.

PERSONAL PROTECTION IS NO REASON TO HAVE A GUN
We are now being told that having a gun in self-defence is not acceptable. Not that this is anything new. An ad. placed in the Sydney Sunday Telegraph, during 1992,defended gun registration and insisted that "personal protection is no reason to have a gun". And now this is a nationwide policy.

FIRST SHOT FIRED IN ANGER AGAINST CITIZENS RIGHTS
This is the first stage in a war against the rights of Australian citizens and a dress rehearsal for a slave state. The main purpose of the government is to defend its citizens. But now they seek to deny them a basic right: the right to self-defence with guns if attacked. Denial of the right to have guns for self defence is rather like saying that you can have food, but you can't eat it, you can have water, but you can't drink it. There is a natural right of self defence and national defence being denied.

INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS OF DEFENCE
It was precisely this right of the individual to keep and bear arms that was a foundation of freedom for the American pioneers. Some people have suggested that the US Founding Fathers meant only the Organized Militia (National Guard) to have weapons. If you listen to the following quotes from the US Founding Fathers, it couldn't be more clear that the right to keep and bear arms was meant to apply to all US citizens.

THOMAS JEFFERSON:
"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain their right to keep and bear arms is as a last resort to protect themselves against tyranny in government".

SAM ADAMS:
"The said constitution shall never be construed to authorise Congress to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms".

PATRICK HENRY
"The great object is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able may have a gun".

JAMES MADISON:
"Americans need never fear their government because of the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation".

Short of drawing diagrams, it couldn't be clearer, The Founders of the US wanted grassroots citizens to have a gun to defend themselves from tyrannical government. They had to battle for their freedom, it wasn't given to them on a plate, now they wanted to safeguard it.

If you bother to study history you will notice that nothing has changed since those times as a matter of fact nothing has ever changed. Humanity remains the same. Those that do not recognize this have set themselves up to fall into the trap of "those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it". God help us all when the majority of people arrogantly begin to think that we, today, are more advanced and civillized than those who came before us. Nothing has changed except our tecknology.

The Founding Fathers of the USA were a lot smarter and more experienced than the pinheads and pencil pushers that run Australian politics or for that matter American politicians, today.
