So, what you are saying is that all Aussies are yobbos? Except for the English immigrants of course.?

No I'm just defining the word as it is spoken as Australian slang. I feel that most Australians are very cultured people but every society has their 'yobbos'.

  They are an endangered species in Australia now. Mind you some country and outback areas still have their fair share of them.

bung

Another slang word I thought of this morning.

It is used like this:

"Bung another sausage on the BBQ for Ron."

bung throw, or put.

many happy moments,

I have never heard the term 'strine' before :?: Can you tell me what it means? :?

You should know that word. Maybe you have been hanging around too many yuppie peacenik types at those tofu rallies.

The term "Strine" derives from saying the word "Australian" through both closed teeth and the nose - a local accent that some "scholars" claim arose from the need to keep the mouth ("trap") shut against blow flies ("blowies").

I have never tried tofu; maybe I should.

Now that you have worded it the way YOU have I do remember this term. It really isn't a slang word though to my mind; it is just the way westies talk.
