I haven't really followed this news, but from what I've read so far I only have one thing to say, I don't feel sorry for him. Well, unless he was framed I would pay his death with some sympathy. Right now? Not so much....

I feel terribly sorry for his mother; she is absolutely devastated. It is difficult to feel sympathy for him because he is smuggling drugs (and they aren't party drugs). The whole situation is very sad, what a stupid young man. Now he will pay with his life. :(

I have to say right now I don't have much sympathy for his mom either since I've read that there are families involving with drugs as a family business. Who knows that she didn't really know he was doing drugs or not. Just say, if she didn't know, she would have my sympathy from the bottom of my heart; however, if she did, I think they should put her in jail, too.

Ignorance is not an excuse. In Canada, it is made obvious to travelers that when you are in a foreign country, you are subject to their laws. Since he was carrying a half kilo of heroin, and it's obvious it wasn't for personal use, he deserves to be punished. However, I feel the death penalty is very harsh and clemency should be considered. Perhaps life imprisonment without parole.

Once again I'm in total agreement with you unknownsu.  He is an idiot, 25 years old and his life is going to be taken. The Australian government is going to push for clemency to the very end (only because most Australian's don't believe in the death penalty).

From what I have seen in this case she had nothing to do with this. Wow Lenny wait until you become a Mum then maybe you will understand her grief and disappointment all rolled up into one.

What if this is not his first time doing it? In other words, it means he's ruined lives of young people who might have had a bright future but instead they are living a life as like worthless, pathetic people. And what if those people got AIDS because of doing drugs and they then passed it on to other people? I think people should think twice about people doing weeds, but heroine?

From what I've seen in my life, there are people who can act. I've seen people lie in front of my face to other people. I have no trust in anyone unless I know the whole story. Otherwise, I see things both sides.

In my country we believe in the principle 'innocent until proven guilty'. This woman has not/and is not, under any suspicion.

Well, same thing for almost everywhere, don't you think? If they had doubts, they would have hung her with him. They haven't done it like that, have they? I was speaking my own feelings about this whole thing. I was saying that I have some doubts about her position in his life and her position in this whole picture. Who could raise their hand and say she is really innocent beside herself (if and only if she doesn't lie)??
