Australian Doctors try to cut out junk food at school!

The AMA (Australian Medical Association) wants fundraisers at schools to be stopped (cake drives etc). They also want McHappy meals to stop having toys in them. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO HELP FIGHT OBESITY?

This is all well and good; but what about educating parents as well. It isn't only what children eat outside the home that counts. I have been to many peoples houses and noticed that there is no such thing as a 'fruit bowl'. They have their childrens snacks in the cupboard (i.e. chips, lollies, museli bars, etc).

What is the point of having guidelines outside the home if there are none inside it?

The government doesn't think that citizens are smart enough to make their own life decisions. The way things are going they will be right in a few years. The trouble is that the government is not smart enough either!!

To be honest I think it is a great idea to stop the chocolate drives  at schools. They send the kids home with a huge box of chocolates to sell.

We all know what happens to them (the parents eat them)...    Then you have to pay for your expanded waistline and $75.00 for the box of chocolates as well!!!!!

The school christmas parties start next week. Already we have a list from the teacher on what my child needs to bring (2 large packets of chips and a bottle of soft drink).

After all it is Christmas they need to have a treat at this time of year. 8) I bet the doctors aren't too happy..
