Australians aren't racist they are just fed up!

Postby Shazzam » Wed Dec 21, 2005 11:28 am

There has been alot of publicity lately regarding the recent events in Cronulla. (There is a different thread for those events). This thread is to try and give some credibility back to Australians. I don't believe that Aussies are racist, they are just fed up. We live in a giant melding pot and have done for many years. We all seem to have got on well for many years.

Current events don't give a real display of Australians personalities. We are happy to have different opinions, religions, etc. The issue here is that their is a culture here, we aren't happy to have someone come here and tell us to change what we have been doing for the last 200 years. Especially considering the people that asking us to do this are people that have been here for like 15 minutes.

Why can't we all just get on. I don't believe for one minute that we can't it is a matter of us all excepting that we believe in different things, then accepting that we do. It really isn't that big a deal.

Tonight I put on some traditional Christmas Carols and realised that it is time that we all accepted that we have different traditions; that is ok.

There has been peace for the last two weeks so i'm hoping that things have died down. I just pray that it will stay that way.

My Christmas wish is peace on earth. This year I'm going to endorse that opinion by going to church services over Christmas. We have to get back to what is important, not about the presents etc. About what the spirit is about.

As you may already know, I do not believe for one minute that Aussies are racist. Aussies are some of the most kind hearted and open people on earth. They are slow to anger but just watch out when they do become angry. Cronulla is an example of this.

I think that Cronulla is a good thing but should have happened many years ago when it could have done more good. Aussies need to speak up right away or they will be ignored by even their own government.

To clarify, Cronulla is not about race. It is about customs and identity and herritage. It does not matter about race, color of skin to Aussies. It is about actions. History has shown time and time again that cultures clash when put side by side. Countries that do well have one people one culture.

Australian politicians have taken on the worst of America's policies and ingnored the best. Why?

The legendary rugged open minded Bronzed Aussie is now threatened by extinction because as far as the policy makers were concerned, Aussies were not breeding fast enough to produce good little tax payers to fill their coffers. So, in the plastic minds of the politicions they had to augment the situation by "importing" a populace in such numbers that detrimental effects to the Aussie culture would be unavoidable.

A recent poll conducted by a television station in Australia has shown that the majority of the population isn't racist. Of course as in any country there is a small portion of the population that is. The thing is that not all of the racism is coming from Australians, immigrants to this country are racist against Australians as well. That one is hard for me to work out. Nevertheless that is what the poll discovered.

The whole situation seems to have come under control now and I'm hoping that there will be a peaceful Christmas, in particular in Sydney. My heart tells me that there will be. 8)
