Kerry Packer dies aged 68 years.

Australia's richest man has died at age 68 years. We were all so shocked when the announcement was made yesterday. He was such a strong man, but had battled ill health for many years. Kerry Packer was to Australia what Donald Trump and Bill Gates are to the US. He was a larger than life character. His son James Packer will now take over the billionaires' businesses including PBL and his media and casino interests. :(

Days after Kerry Packer's death there have been many media releases about his charity contributions this one amazed me.

Mr Packer suffered a massive heart attack about 12 years ago whilst attending a polo match. The NSW Ambulance service had to revive him at the match and get him to hospital (they saved his life).

After his recovery he found out that not every ambulance in NSW had defibulators, so he rang the then NSW Premier (Nick Greiner) and said "I have been told that it would cost approximately AUSD $5,000,000.00 to have every ambulance equipped with a defibulator, so how about we go halves?"

He made that donation and now every ambulance in NSW is fitted with one of these life saving devices.

The funny thing is they are now named by the ambulance drivers "PACKER WHACKERS".

I just love this story. 8)

I think it is a great name of a defibulator. I reckon Kerry would have just loved it.

Did you know that Kerry Packer was the creator of 'one day cricket'. He changed the face of the game forever (thank god). 8)
