National Service!

Postby Shazzam » Thu Jan 05, 2006 11:13 pm

National service was abolished in this country many decades ago, but there is now some debate about whether or not it should be brought back.

I know alot of people will say that it shouldn't but I have to admit I think it is a good idea. Especially for the long-term unemployed. Some young people benefit greatly from the dicipline.

What do you think :?:

National service ?

ah ! conscription ! you mean national mititary service !

A country without armee is condemned to depend on countries with armee.

It is not bad to learn disciplin in a system, but not necessarily the armee.

But we waste much money in armee (and in others things).

One utopia is "all country without armee".

A am waiting for the weapons which don't kill.

I agree with you shokin that in a perfect world there would be no need for military forces. Unfortunately we don't live in this world. I think it is a good thing for young people, especially some that have no direction in their lives. There seems to be a lot of these in my country.

I also agree that you are vunerable if you are unable to defend yourself plus you are open to corruption if you have to rely on other countries to come in and help you defend yourself.

Conscription is immoral. It is against the natural born freedom of man to force him into an army or a war against his will. If the government can't find anyone willing to fight for them then perhaps they don't need to have the war!!!

Do not put words on my typewriter! People should be free to fight for whatever they want. Just don't FORCE them through the draft.

I never used to agree with it either, but I'm starting to come around to thinking in some cases it isn't such a bad idea. I'm talking about the long-term unemployed!
