Australia Open TENNIS - 2006

Postby Shazzam » Mon Jan 16, 2006 8:22 am

The Australian Open started in Melbourne today. I just love the Australian Open!

The big shock for the day was the exit of Venice Williams in round one to pretty much a virtual unknown 18 year old.

What has happened to the Williams sisters? Venice never looked comfortable.

Stay tuned for more results. 8)

Serena Williams is through to the next stage of the Australian Open, but mind you she didn't do it easily. She looks really out of form. I know that she is the defending champion , but it isn't look too good for her. If she wins this championship it will definately be a feather in her cap.

I think the aussie girl is Samantha Stoser but I'm not 100 percent sure. I haven't been able to watch much of the Open unfortunately as I have been so busy. However I did see Serena Williams get beaten the other night. Also Lleyton Hewitt is out. All the top seeds are getting beaten. It is looking really good for Roger Federer to win. You never know Martina Hingis is looking very good as well. 8)

Martina Hingis beat Samantha Stoser and is through to the quarter finals. Kim Clijsters is also through to the next round, with Mauresmo, Davenport and Sharapova (I can't stand watching this girl) she makes so much noise. I hope she doesn't get through to the final as I will have to turn the volume off on my television.

I'm glad Martina is back she is a very interesting player to watch, because she isn't as strong as some of the other players but she uses great strategies to win matches. 8)
