What do you think a parent is?

I was wondering firstly how many people on these forums are parents? Hence I will conduct a poll.

Secondly I would like to know from people that aren't arents what they think a parent should be. For example what role should they play in their childrens lives.

I don't just mean from infant. I mean as they grow older, and in fact as circumstances change. For example if the parents break up etc. What do you think a parent should provide for their child so that they grow up to be balanced adults?

I have recently taken management of a legal firm and we deal mostly with CARE work through an agency in Australia. From what I have seen parenting has now become something you actually need a diploma for!! NOT!! These stupid idiots think it is ok to have sex with their 15 year friends (when they are adults with six kids) they live in filth etc, and can't understand why their kids are taken from them. Then they bag out the foster families that are caring for their kids.

OMG i am so over it. And guess what the main offenders are DADS....men just seem to think it is ok if there kids sleep on mattresses without sheets etc. I am still in shock and I think it will continue. The big factor is most of them don't work and spend their days drinking and smoking "B..ngs" omg it is so sad.
