As does...?

Post by pdh0224 »

Dear teacher,

Mr. Ramone was often at odds with the members of his band, over dress, politics and relationships. After be began dating Linda Danielle, who had been seeing Joey, in the early 80's, Joey and Johnny stopped talking together. On their tour bus, they kept silent company, often passing messages back and forth through an intermediary. Linda, who later married him, survives Mr. Ramone, as does his mother, Estelle, who lives in Florida.

Q : What does "as does his mother" mean? I think it is that "Linda survives his mother". The function of the "as" is an Predicate-focused sentential pronoun. What do you think?

Yes, it is a predicate-focused sentential relative pronoun, but the meaning is that his mother Estelle (as well as Linda) survives Mr Ramone.
