Dear teacher,

But Mr. Jiang is also thought to have come under heavy pressure within the party, and even within the military, to follow the example of Deng and withdraw from public life before health problems force him to do so.

Q : I think the structure of the sentence is (A),(B) and (C).

But Mr. Jiang is also thought (A)to have come under heavy pressure within the party, and even within the military, (B)to follow the example of Deng and (C)withdraw from public life before health problems force him to do so.

What do you think?

All the best, :)

No. Verb phrases B and C complement the verb phrase 'to have come under heavy pressure...', specifying that which the party and the military wish him to do.
