Of those, the list was whittled down to four prestigious, if esthetically conservative, firms: Rafael Viely Architects, Polshek Partnership Architects, Michael Graves & Associates and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the firm that is now overseeing the Freedom Tower at ground zero.
