Dear teacher,

In one incident on Monday, a powerful group of anti-American Sunni clerics said that of its two senior members had been killed in Baghdad in the previous 24 hours, raising the possibility that hostilities between Shiite and Sunni Arabs were on the rise.

Q : What is modified by "of its two senior members"? Is the phrase a subject of the that-clause?

All the best,

It must be a misprint: a number is missing before 'of'.
