"Gem" is not the only show on Mr. Mordecai's mind; he is also trying to promote "Brooklyn the Musical," the new $7 million show that opened to mediocre reviews on Thursday and has relatively small advance sales of $1.5 million.

Q : The amount of money $1.5 million is a result of adding small advance sales or an origianl money a writer refers to?

It is the money obtained for sales of tickets etc. in advance of the opening performance.
