Dear Teacher:
Which of the following sentence(s) is/are correct? Is there any difference in meaning?
1. My life is better than I imagine
2. My life is better than I have imagined
3. My life is better than I imagined
4. My life is better than I had imagined

All are grammatically possible, although #1 is semantically absurd.
