Hello,
I have a question about the use of word should. My teacher once used in the sentence should and I am sure that the correct word should be if.
My question is therefore if the word should can be substituted by the word if.
Many thanks,

In fairly formal usage, an inverted should-construction can replace an if-construction with the same meaning, e.g.

Should you have any problems, please contact me. = If you have any problems, please contact me.

Thus what appears to be simply the replacement of a single word is in fact the replacement of one construction by another!
